About Us

Ukrainian language, history, geography, culture, and heritage school in Oakville, Canada, for native Ukrainian speakers and Ukrainian as a second language children ages 4 to 14.  Classes are held each Saturday morning from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm at St. Luke Elementary School at 2750 Kingsway Drive, Oakville.

Classes run from early September to early June.  The school is closed for regular school holidays and some Ukrainian holidays.

Our mission is to develop further understanding, knowledge, integration, innovation and appreciation of Ukrainian culture and traditions; to provide education for the benefit and enrichment of a culturally-diverse community; to foster language acquisition and learning of Ukrainian social studies and heritage.

Oakville Ridna Shkola encourages participation and contribution to school spirit.  The school offers interaction with children from various Ukrainian communities in Halton Region and beyond.  This program is suited for children of Ukrainian heritage who may not regularly speak Ukrainian at home.  Families participate in cultural activities with their children preserving cultural traditions.

The enriched and customized curriculum, taught by qualified teachers, stimulates and challenges students to demonstrate a sense of responsibility towards learning and to achieve their personal best.  Our students are given a solid foundation for the following level of Ukrainian education at Kursy (Secondary Level Studies) Program.

Musical and dramatic productions, Ukrainian Holidays celebrations, field trips, Ukrainian dance classes add to the engaging and lively atmosphere of our vibrant school community.  By discovering their own talents and strengths, students become positive contributors to school life and the community.
